Optical lines


The Elbo range of optical lines can be fitted on most types of machine tools (horizontal and vertical lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, radial drilling machines, EDM machines, boring machines, etc.) and metrological instruments (profile projectors, hardness gauges, thickness gauges, etc.). The MX modular version, which allows you to combine 6-metre modules, features applications for large machines (over 20 metres).


The series are available both with TTL (for displays) and EIA 422 A (for CNC) output signals.
The measure is carried out by transparency (up to 3,000 mm) or reflection (over 3,000 mm) depending on the model.


Measuring
In the optical line models with transparency measuring, infrared emitters send out a beam that hits the phototransistors by crossing a collimator and a graduated glass line. Following a shift between the graduation of the glass line and the collimator, the intensity of the infrared beam on the phototransistors varies, creating sinusoidal signals proportionate to the graduation pitch. These signals are then processed and transformed into signals for displays or positioners. In models with lengths over 3,000 mm, reading is done by reflection on a specially-graduated steel line.

ELBO MEASURING SYSTEMS

The GALILEO systems, with limited overall dimensions, permit a high accuracy and can be fi tted on machine tools such as lathes, boring machines, grinding machines, milling-planing machines, measuring benches, etc. On the contrary, the MXRL systems are designed for large machines and offer the possibility to add different shorts lenghts, to obtain measures over 10 metres. The encoders E-66 and M-2 are able to survey angular movements and to be driven by measuring racks.

 

The range of GALILEO linear transducers includes 3 models differing for dimensions, strokes and output signal. Each model is available with 0.005 or 0.001 resolution and TTL or EIA-422-A output. The GT5 and GT1 models are optical scales for universal uses and are available with strokes from mm. 50 to mm. 1800. The GR5 and GR1 models give output signals according to EIA-422-A standard for applications to CNC, etc. The GL5 and GL1 models are optical scales with reduced dimensions and are available with strokes from mm. 50 to mm. 600. The MX model has oversized dimensions and it is available with stroke up to mm 3050.

Optical lines "GALILEO" series

In measuring systems of GALILEO series, measuring is of transparency-type.
Emitters (1) send out an infrared beam which passes through a collimator (2) and a graduated glass line (4), then activates phototransistors (5). Because of the graduation shifting between glass line and collimator, the intensity of infrared beam received by phototransistors varies, creating sinusoidal signals proportional to the graduation pitch. Then, these signals are processed by interpolation electronic circuits which transform them into square wave signals for displays, positioners and numerical control devices.

 

In linear measuring systems, the reading component is protected by an aluminium container (7) provided with fl exible gaskets (6) in order to avoid oil, dust and chip penetration. These measuring systems are particularly suitable for usage on machine tools such as: milling machines, boring machines, lathes, punching machines, grinding machines, measuring benches, enlargers, presetting, microscopes
